Gerry McAvoy formed Band of friends in 2012. Gerry played with Rory Gallagher for 20 years. He has played on every record with Rory from 1971 to 1991. He also wrote his Biography “Riding Shotgun” which was published in 2005.
The band now consists of Rory's core rhythm section including:

Brendan Oneill (Drums) (Played with Rory from 1981-1991)
and on guitars for 2025 / 26 are Brian Tambling from Cork, Ireland and Andy Taylor from Orkney Island

Gerry McAvoy's Band of Friends return to Ireland next March for a serious of headline shows in Cork, Belfast, Dublin and Limerick in celebration of what would have been Rory Gallagher's 78th Birthday.
